SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATION

The Aim of the Program is to train middle school teachers who can give the courses of social studies, citizenship and human rights education, the Republic of Turkey History of Revolution and Kemalism.

As field courses, the fundamentals of Social Sciences, Introduction to Educational Sciences, Social Psychology, Economy, Philosophy, Computer I-II, Physical Geography of Turkey, Introduction to Political Science, Educational Psychology, Methods of Scientific Research, Citizenship Knowledge, General Human and Economic Geography, Medieval History, History of Turkish Education, Science-Technology and Social Change, Ottoman History and Civilization I-II, Community Service Practices, Human Rights and Democracy, Geography of World Countries, Social Studies Verbal and Written Literature Research, Human Relations and Communication, Modern World History, History of Turkish Republic I-II, Examination of Social Studies Textbooks, Program Development, Contemporary World’s Problems, Development of Social Project, Drama.

As teaching knowledge courses, Guidance, Assessment and Evolution, Instructional Technology and Material Design, Classroom Management, Special Training, Methods of Special Teaching I-II, Teaching Principles and Methods, Special Teaching Methods, Comparative Education, Education Philosophy, New Approaches to Primary School Programs, and Guidance are being taught.

Requirements, those who want to become social studies teachers should firstly love teaching profession and feel affection for children as in all departments of Faculty of Education. They should also be patient and tolerant, good at establishing and maintaining relations with people, enjoy teaching, and be interested in the subjects of social studies.

Job Opportunities, our graduates are able to work in the middle schools at the 5., 6., 7., 8. student class levels as social studies teachers.
