A New One was Added to The Balkan Countries Study and Culture Trips

 

A group of students and faculty members of the Department of Geography Education and Social Studies Education of our department made a study and cultural trip to Romania and Bulgaria between 19-23 April 2024. Within the scope of the cultural trip, firstly, starting from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, the historical and cultural destinations of this city and the Bucharest Turkish Martyrdom were visited. On the second day, after visiting Peleş Palace, the historical and cultural heritage of Bran and Braşov, the most important attraction centres of the Transylvania region, were visited. After crossing to Bulgaria, in Ruscuk, on the banks of the Danube River, the characteristics of this river, its effects and its place in river transport were emphasised. From Ruse to Shumnu, Şerif Halil Pasha Mosque was visited. Afterwards, Varna was reached and the historical and archaeological destinations of this city were visited and the distance taken in sea tourism was seen on site. Finally, the cities of Nessebar and Burgas were visited and the students entered our country through Dereköy border gate.

Thanks to this cultural trip, the students had the chance to see the historically and culturally rich destinations in the places visited and to expand their knowledge and awareness. In particular, the presence of students and faculty members together strengthened social and academic interaction and increased knowledge sharing. During the trip, the physical and cultural characteristics of Romania and Bulgaria were analysed.
